Liberal Democrats select Claire Malcomson as MP candidate at next general election
East Surrey Liberal Democrats have selected Surrey resident Claire Malcomson to represent the party at the next general election. Claire has lived in Surrey most of her life and has a varied portfolio career, including theatre, writing and sustainable development. She has been a dedicated district councillor for eight years, making a difference to people's lives and working on mitigating climate change.
Claire says “It’s an honour to have been selected to be the candidate. I know the area well having gone to school in East Surrey. It would be a privilege to be elected as M.P. to represent such an amazing area.”
Claire goes on to say “The Conservatives have taken East Surrey for granted for too long. The Liberal Democrats came second in the last general election, and are the only party that can beat the Conservatives here in East Surrey next time. I am here to listen and represent our residents. People should think about who they vote for if they want this government gone.”
“Only a few weeks ago East Surrey Hospital declared a major incident because of the Tories' failure in managing our NHS. We really need to get rid of this government”
It is not yet clear when a general election will be held, but could be any time between now and early 2025. East Surrey has elected Tories since the 1870’s. It is only the Liberal Democrats who can beat them here in East Surrey, Labour don’t even have a councillor in the local area.
