WE MUST INVEST IN GREEN, SUSTAINABLE ENERGY & GROWTH

The UK should be the world leader, creating jobs and expanding sustainable growth. The call for growth per se is dangerous, we MUST reuse, repair and recycle, SAY NO to expanding fossil fuels and food wastage. Climate Change (CC) costs the UK £24 billion annually, by 2050 it will cost £72 billion. The Conservatives and Labour parties are not taking this seriously.

Nationally the Lib Dems would invest in renewable power, provide free retrofits for low-income homes, offer tax incentives to reduce energy consumption, emissions, bills, and help end fuel poverty. We would create a ‘Net Zero Delivery Authority’ to strengthen the powers of local authorities to cut emissions, promote community energy generation, and require all new homes to have solar panels.

Locally, the Lib Dems want to work with businesses and parishes, making Tandridge District Council carbon neutral by 2030; changing planning policies to make new housing heat efficient, include mandatory electric vehicle charging points, and demand a net gain of biodiversity on new developments.

Six out of nine planetary boundaries are broken. We must act. More weather disasters are on their way. It is tragic that the children’s ‘word’ of the year is Climate Change.
