Liberal Democrats select Claire Malcomson to stand in East Surrey
After the tragic incident at Gravely Hill where a dog walker sadly lost her life, the Tandridge District Council Community Services Committee met to discuss the issue. The incident is still under Police investigation, but Cllr David Lee proposed that the Council be prepared to take action as soon as the full facts are know.
On Wednesday night, local Tory MP Claire Coutinho voted against a proposed ban on fracking exposing Tandridge to government endorsed fracking. 47% of Tandridge is covered by petroleum production licences stretching from Caterham Viewpoint down to Felbridge. A recent assessment by the British Geological Survey suggests there are 4 areas in the UK which are potentially viable for the extraction of shale gas by fracking, including the Jurassic Weald Basin which includes Tandridge.
